Stephen has supported the implementation of sustainable design concepts in Ground Engineering across the Ramboll Group. These principles have been developed on a wide range of projects encompassing major bridges and tunnels, the design of new ports, and the delivery of highways and railway schemes in the UK and overseas. To date he has promoted the reduction in carbon on these projects through design quality, the use of site based testing, re-use of materials, and the inclusion of existing sub-structures and foundations. He is now working with experts in Ramboll to take inspiration from the Nordics to take the approach to sustainable ground engineering to the next stage incorporating consideration of biodiversity and social value in our projects in partnership with clients and other stakeholders
